V. Symposium On Informatics In Logistics

The 5th Information Technology in Logistics Symposium was held on May 23, 2017, with the main theme of "New Trends, New Technologies."

Organized in collaboration with the Turkish Informatics Association, the Logistics Association, and Kadir Has University, the 5th Information Technology in Logistics Symposium was held at the Kadir Has University Cibali Campus.

The symposium brought together experts from the logistics sector, the business world, academia, and civil society organizations. Experts discussed their experiences, future predictions, and the leverage effect of information technologies in the logistics sector. The symposium, which attracted considerable interest, featured panels and presentations throughout the day, focusing on the importance of information technology and information technology in the logistics sector, the impact of Industry 4.0 on the logistics sector through technological solutions, efficiency in the logistics sector, and future technologies. Threats and opportunities were discussed, and examples from around the world and Turkey were presented.

The welcome speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nihat A. Berker, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Kadir Has University. Prof. Dr. Nihat A. Berker explained the impact of new technologies on informatics and logistics, and the developments that have occurred globally and in Turkey from past to present, providing examples.

In his opening remarks, Deniz Tiryakioğlu, President of the Istanbul Branch of the Turkish Informatics Association, stated that the logistics sector, which has rapidly developed in recent years, is one of the most important elements of our globalizing world and is associated with the concepts of speed, flexibility, and technology. He explained the absolute importance of using information technologies in the logistics sector in an intensely competitive environment, allowing businesses to deliver customer requests and needs accurately, on time, without damage or loss. He emphasized topics such as business efficiency, resource utilization, transportation, cargo tracking, warehousing, human resources, workforce utilization, interdepartmental communication, customer satisfaction, financial profitability, and competitiveness, and explained the impact of new technologies on the logistics sector.

President of the Logistics Association, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tanyaş presented LODER's corporate presentation, its activities, an overview of logistics and supply chain processes, and the current importance and progress of the supply chain.

Kadir Has University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taner Arsan explained the differences and advancements in this year's topics compared to those covered in previous years' symposiums, along with examples of innovations in the IT sector and the realities of Turkey.

Keynote speaker Halil Aksu, founder of Gelecekhane, presented a presentation on the future of technology and logistics with examples from around the world. He explained how disruptive developments are changing the way business is done, citing examples such as robots in Amazon's warehouse, the driverless truck company Otto, drone shipping, augmented reality, and robotization in factories.
